Since last June 6, 2018, the new Tax Management System of Paraguay, Marangatu 2.0, has been operational with one hundred percent of its functionalities. After almost two years of intense work, supporting the Inter-American Center of Tax Administrations (CIAT) and the Undersecretary of the State of Taxation of Paraguay (SET).
The SET Information System, called Marangatu, is an integrated system for tax management and provides services to officials of the institution and taxpayers of the Republic of Paraguay, it was implemented in its first version in 2006. In the In 2016, the Marangatu System technology update project begins, with the objectives of improving and expanding the services provided by the system and improving the platform in terms of availability and performance, while facilitating its operation and administration, improving the mechanisms of authentication and authorization.
The Marangatú system, among many other functions of the tax administration, is responsible for receiving tens of thousands of transactions daily, processed online for tax settlement, taxpayer registration, and other processes. In addition, these data feed information analysis processes that allow knowing the status of collection in real time (near to real time), and control processes, such as inspection and collection, using massive information processes periodically.
The project included the development of client applications for capturing and sending electronic receipts (virtual invoice), capturing and sending electronic sworn statements (offline option), as well as a mobile application for accessing public services on the Marangatu portal.
